HERITAGE DAY

Heritage Day at the Kemper County Historical Museum will be held this year on Saturday November 2, from 11-1 p.m. Mark your calendar early for a fun day of fellowship, music, and BBQ! Tickets may be purchased from Association members in advance or onsite.



ALL ABOARD!

The DeKalb Regional Model Railroad Museum will be open on Heritage Day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Come and see the new items that have been added since you last visit.



GRACE COMMUNITY CHOIR

The Grace Community Choir will present "An Evening with Dottie Rambo" on Saturday, November 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, 7330 Hwy. 493, Meridian. A love offering will be taken. Refreshments will follow.



SOULE LIVE STEAM FESTIVAL

The 17th Annual Soulé Live Steam Festival in Meridian, Mississippi will show how things were made and how hard people worked back in the early 20th century. This year the festival falls on Friday and Saturday, November 1–2, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event attracts visitors from across the country. Last year visitors came from 21 states. Students of are encouraged to attend and will receive free admission courtesy of the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum.



EMCC/OLD WAVERLY GOLF

CLASSIC RESCHEDULED

The 24th Annual EMCC/Old Waverly Golf Classic (in memory of Buddy Faulkner) has been rescheduled for Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point. Spots are still available. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with lunch served at 11 a.m. Tee times begin at noon, with dinner and awards following the 4-person scramble. BankFirst Financial Services is the presenting sponsor, Sodexo is the lunch sponsor and Southern Ionics Inc., is the dinner sponsor. Tournament spots and additional sponsorships are available for individuals, groups and corporate entries. Dozens of prizes and drawings will be available - in addition to four hole-in-one awards including a new vehicle provided by Carl Hogan Chevrolet Toyota Mazda of Columbus. GREATER MERIDIAN CHAPTER OF MISS VALLEY STATE

The Greater Meridian Chapter of Miss. Valley State University Alumni will have their meeting Thursday, Nov. 7th, 2019 beginning at 5:00pm at the Council of Organizations Building, 814-45th Ave. We will be distributing Raffle Tickets for our annual fund raising and collecting large can goods to be distributed to local charitable organzations for the up-coming holiday season. LEARN AND GROW-DIABETES AWARENESS

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Kemper County Economic Development Authority and the Kemper County Chamber of Commerce will hold the 2019 Annual Dinner on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.

The Dinner will be held at East Mississippi Community College - Cafeteria. Tickets are $15.00 each and may be purchased at the Kemper County EDA office located in the Business Incubator

KEMPER COUNTY SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DEISTRICT ANNOUNCES BEAVER CONTROL COST-SHARE PROGRAM

Applications are now being accepted by Kemper County SWCD for the Kemper County Beaver Control Cost-Share Program. The Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission and the Kemper County Board of Supervisors have funded the program to aid non-industrial private landowners in beaver control. CUB SCOUTS SEEKING SCOUTS

Pack #4 of Kemper County Cub Scouts is looking for interested individuals (boys and girls) from the ages of six year olds to twelve year olds that are interested in scouting. 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS VOLUNTEER

RECRUITMENT

Kemper County 4-H Shooting Sports will soon be gearing up for another year. Through the 4-H Shooting Sports program youth ages 8-18 are given the opportunity to learn responsibility, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and other qualities critical to the development of productive citizens. We are currently seeking volunteer instructors in archery, shotgun, rifle and pistol. Training opportunities will be available in January. Adults 21 years of age or older must pass a background check and submit an application. CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OLD

Kemper County is a participant in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program providing a free book mailed monthly to the child in the child's name from birth until the child reaches the age of five. This project is sponsored by the United Way of East Mississippi, the Strasser Family Foundation and the Partners for Kemper County, Community Foundation of East Mississippi. To enroll your child on the website enter uwem.org and click on Impact Programs Imagination Library or imaginationlibrary.com and select the "PARENT" tab located at the top of the web page. Registration cards may also be picked up at the Kemper County Library or the Kemper County Economic Development Authority office during normal business hours.
