Kemper Academy dropped the only basketball games it played last week, as the Rams dropped a 38-27 decision to homestanding Newton County Academy and the Lady Rams fell 42-35.

The Rams are off until January when the return to action by hosting a pair of contests, KA entrains Sylva-Bay Academy on Jan. 4 and Lamar School on Jan. 5.

The next week Kemper Academy visits Starkville Academy on Jan. 9,followed by trips to columbus Christian Academy on Jan. 12 and Wayne Academy on Jan. 16.

In the boys game on Friday Newton County Academy led 10-7 after one quarter and 20-11 at the intermission. The Rams outscored the Generals 11-7 in the third to to cut it to 27-22. The Generals put the game way by outscoring KA 11-5 in the fourth quarter.

No individual scorers were available for the Rams.

The Lady Rams trailed NCA after one quarter and 29-25 at the half. Kemper played the Lady General tough in the second half, but trailed 39-33 after three and couldn't get any closer in a fourth quarter that saw both teams combine for just five points.
