The Kemper Academy basketball teams will get their season under way with three games on tap for this week.

The Rams were to host Newton County Academy on Tuesday.  They host Starkville Christian on Thursday and then visit Clarkdale on Friday.

“We are going to be young and inexperienced with the boys,” Coach Scott Johnson said. “We have three starters returning on the girls team. And several of the girls played last year so they a little more experience. We’ll just have to see how it all comes together.”

The boys team came together last week after football season ended. The girls have been practicing for the past month.

“We have had some good practices,” Johnson said. “But you can never tell about a team until you get in a game situation and see how everyone reacts under pressure. This will be a big week for us.”
