Kemper County athletic director Maurice Naylor said the school is preparing to field teams for the fall slow-pitch and spring fast-pitch softball seasons. Volleyball is also being considered.

“We are going to build a well-rounded program that will be competitive in all sports,” Naylor said. “School has just started and we have a new coaching staff. Everyone is excited about the potential and we are starting to figure things out.”

While the Wildcats have competed in track in recent years, Naylor said they were also considering starting a baseball team.

Naylor was born and raised in Meridian. After graduating from Meridian High School, he played basketball at Meridian Community College. He attended the University of West Alabama and graduated from Mississippi State University in Meridian.
