The Kemper Academy Rams look to get back on the winning track Friday night when they travel to North Sunflower Academy in eight-man football action this Friday night.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Rams came close last Friday. But Delta Academy scored twice in the fourth quarter to take a 36-28 win. 



The Rams dropped to 2-3 on the season.

North Sunflower Academy comes in at 0-5. Last week, they lost a 52-12 decision to Desoto (Ark.) Academy.

“We played hard,” KA coach Joe Wofford said. “But we had turnovers and that was hard to overcome. We had a chance to win. We just have to clean up some of these mistakes.”

Delta Academy led 14-0 at the half.

Delta scored again in the third quarter. But the Rams battled back. Austin Castleberry scored on a one-yard run to put the Rams on the scoreboard. Castleberry added the two point conversion and the Delta led 22-8

Later in the quarter, quarterback Brody Thomas connected with Landon Stapleton on a 46-yard TD pass play. The extra point was no good and the Rams trailed 22-14.

The Rams scored twice in the fourth quarter to take the lead. First, Thomas passed 56 yards to Trey Waddell for a touchdown. The two point conversion was no good and the Rams trailed 22-20.

Then Brody put his team ahead when he scored on a three-yard run. Brody scored the two point conversion and the Rams led 28-22.

Delta Academy scored a touchdown to retake the lead. The Rams had the ball. There was a fumble and Delta Academy scooped it up and returned it for six.

Thomas completed 12-of-24 passing attempts for 296 yards. The Rams had 94 rushing yards, led by Castleberry who finished with 41 markers on 10 carries. Waddell had two catches for 99 yards while Landon Stapleton had three catches for 59 yards and Garron Dickson had two catches for 57 yards. River Keaton caught three passes for 67 yards.

Defensively, Jackson Mason had nine tackles and caused two fumbles. Castleberry had six tackles and recovered a fumble while Garrett Thomas made six tackles and recovered a fumble.
