The Kemper Academy will swing back into action Thursday night for the first of two home basketball games.

The Ram teams have been on Christmas break since mid-December and have had some practices over the holidays.

Kemper Academy is scheduled to host Sylva-Bay on Thursday and Lamar School on Friday. Next Tuesday, Kemper Academy travels to Starkville Academy.

Kemper Academy is a part of the Mississippi Independent Schools Association and competes in District Class 3-A along with Columbus Christian, Hebron Academy and Calhoun Academy.

Those district games are scheduled for later in January. Last year, the Kemper Academy boys made it to the finals of the district tournament.

Coach Scott Johnson has said Kemper Academy intentionally plays a schedule against bigger schools. He said playing the tougher competition will help prepare them when the Class A state playoffs come along.
