Services for Maple Jones Newton were held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11 am at Jerusalem Baptist Church Emelle, Alabama. Rev. Henry Rush officiated and the burial followed in the church cemetery. New Haven Memorial Funeral Home were in charge the final arrangements.

Maple Jones was born in Geiger, Alabama on March 10, 1932 to the late Vandy and Fannie Jones. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Lynn Newton in 1952. She was a devoted wife for 62 years. Maple answered a call to be with the Lord in Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Maple gave her life to Christ at an early age at Soul Chapel A.M.E Church in Geiger, Alabama and later joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member until she relocated to Montgomery, Alabama. While living in Montgomery, Alabama she enjoyed attending Bell Missionary Church and St. Matthews Church with her daughters. She was a dedicated employee at Geiger Head Start in Geiger, Alabama until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lynn Newton; her parents Vandy and Fannie Jones, five sisters; Thelma Andrews, Doris Jones, Tiny Rose McGhee, Molinda Burns, and Ruthie Gee, four brothers A.C. Jones, Miller Jones, Reeda Jones and Freddie Jones.

Maple leaves to cherish her memories; nine children; Eddie (Emma) Newton, of Jacksonville, Florida, Dorothy Winston of Gainesville, Alabama, Lynn Newton Jr. (Tommie) of Emelle, Alabama, Thenethia (James) Smith, Laneice (Charles) Frazier, Barney (Kim) Newton, Wyanthia Frazier, Barbara (Eric) Beasley; all of Montgomery, Alabama, Sherry (Reginald) Cross of York, Alabama, one sister in-law; Mary Alice Bell of Austin, Texas, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren a host of special friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
