Graveside services for Mabel Burkes Lang were held Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. from Burkes Cemetery in Kemper County with Rev. Jack Kern and Rev. Chris Gully officiating.  McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Lang, 85, of Dekalb, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Mississippi Care Center in Dekalb.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Kemper County and longtime Jackson Road Community resident.  Mrs. Lang was a member of Mamie’s Chapel Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include husband, Raymond Odell Lang of Dekalb; daughter, Rosa “Grace” King of Dekalb; three grandchildren, Scarlett Stevens, Carla Walton and George Raymond King; 14 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; sister, Rosie Lee McReynolds (Charles) of Dekalb; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. 

Mrs. Lang was preceded in death by parents, Edgar and Rosie Burkes; four sisters and six brothers. 

Pallbearers were Jimmy Burkes, Ross Cullum, Ben Williams, Michael Mattox, David Smith, Clifton Pitts and Homer Hall.
