Kathleen Kitchens Robbins Jernigan, 88, of Mashulaville, MS passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at her residence. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14, from Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel in Macon at 3:00 P.M. with Bro. Glenn Miller officiating. Interment in Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon will immediately follow the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Kathleen Kitchens was born in the Binnsville Community of Kemper County on August 22, 1928 to Eddie Gray and Henri Sparkman Kitchens. She graduated from Macon High School and married James Edward Robbins, Jr in 1944. Mrs. Robbins worked at the Borden Plant in Macon, MS for several years before starting to work at United Technology in Columbus, a job that she held until her retirement in 1990. After the death of her first husband, she married Marion (Mate) Jernigan in 1972. She was a member of Mashulaville Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Jolly 20 Club and the Magnolia Club. Mrs. Jernigan enjoyed doing for others and loved to help her neighbors in the Mashulaville area. She enjoyed gardening and was known as a wonderful cook. She will always be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Jernigan was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses; her sister: Eddie Lois Fleetwood and her brother: Harold G. Kitchens. She is survived by two daughters: Shirley Robbins Spell of Macon, MS and Carolyn Robbins Thomas of Shuqualak, MS and by one son: Edward Robbins of Macon. She is also survived by her sister-in-law: Mary Lou Kitchens of Binnsville, MS as well as by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
