DeKalb – Funeral services for Deacon Robert Lee Jenkins were held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Scooba, with the Rev. Marcus Lawrence officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. New Haven Memorial Funeral Home were in charge of the final arrangements.

Robert was born January 3, 1953 to the late Mary Bell Jenkins and Samuel Byrd in Scooba, MS. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Ararat Baptist Church where he served faithfully and was dedicated until death. He was a 1972 graduate of Spencer High School in Scooba, MS. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. He was well known for his sweet potatoes pies. He also enjoyed his livestock and styling around in his corvette.

Mr. Jenkins, 65, died on April 5, 2018 at Anderson Regional Medical in Meridian, MS. His parents, ; two sisters, Hallie Scott and Rena B. Felton; and one grandchild, Samuel Jenkins preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories: five children, Ronal (Dawn) Jenkins of Scooba, MS, Roddrick (Ganell) Braden of Mobile, AL, Robert Nealy, Deloise Shanta (Julius) Benoman both of Meridian, MS and Robbey F. Jenkins of Geiger, AL; five sisters, Callie Hall, Aretha Harden, Jeanette Jimison, Bonnie (Eddie) Cohen and Maybelle Reeves; three brothers, Sol Jenkins, Robert E. Byrd and Sam Jefferson; nine grandchildren, Laronda Jenkins, Kaylyn Jones, LaDarrius Nealy, Tamiya Nealy, Shaniyah Nealy, Tyreonna Chambliss, Roddrick Wallace, Robert L. Nealy, Jr., Peyton Jenkins, and Jharoddreon Braden; three great-grandchildren; Elijah Jenkins, Kylea Jenkins, Aliyah Nealy; a special niece, Danielle Hopson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all loved him dearly.
