    Mrs. Steele, 70, departed this life on Monday, November 11, 2019, in DeKalb, MS.

    She leaves to cherish her memories; spouse, Luke; one son, Tyrone (Margaret); one daughter, Anitra Spencer; three granddaughters; two brothers and four sisters.

    Pallbearers were nephews and friends.

  • Edna “Sue” Key
    Edna “Sue” Key, 92, went to be with the Lord on April 18th, 2019. She was born in Kemper County, MS. Sue graduated from Rush Memorial Hospital School for Nursing in Meridian, MS. She worked at Stabler’s Infirmary in Greenville, AL for 20 years before moving to Jacksonville Beach where she retired as Director of Nursing at Beaches Hospital.

    Plantersville-The final bell rang for longtime beloved Plantersville School Principal, Maldon Ray “MR” Griffin, 87, and he graduated from his earthly pilgrimage in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 28, 2018 from Sanctuary Hospice House.  Mr. Griffin entered into perpetual and eternal recess with his heavenly Father after several years struggling with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.

    Donald Grover Goodwin, 81, of DeKalb, MS passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at The Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  He was born on February 18, 1937 at Circle M Ranch in Paulette, Mississippi to James and Christine Goodwin.  Don graduated from Macon High School and played football for Coach “Bull” Sullivan at East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba, MS.

    Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. V.M. Creekmore; his sisters Gerry Creekmore and Gloria Laudicina; his brother Marion Creekmore; and his son Robert Norris Creekmore.

  • Frances E. Johnson, daughter of the late Lyphus and Annie Bell Watkins of DeKalb, MS quietly departed this life and began a new journey on August 5, 2017. Born March 9, 1925 in DeKalb, MS, Frances graduated from West Point and continued her education by completing training for administrative services. As a young woman, Frances supported the war effort by providing secretarial services to the Department of the Defense in Washington D.C. She also completed specialized training in dressmaking to become an accomplished seamstress. Frances was a mother devoted first and foremost to raising her children. In later years, she worked in retail sales in Indianapolis, in where she lived for over 50 years.

    Mr. Lisenbe, 101 years old, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Lisenbe’s aim was to reach the age of 100, which he surpassed. He was retired from the Unites States Air Force and was a lifelong member of Bethel Southern Methodist Church where he also taught Sunday school. He was also a Gideon.

    McKinley Welch was born Thursday, March 8, 1945 to Sid Welch and Reather Houston Welch in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS. During his youth, he joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Preston, MS. He enjoyed church services and loved going to church. He attended Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS.

    Lee Earnest Bolden was born Saturday, November 12, 1949 to Lee Artis Bolden and Alma Jean Mosley Bolden in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS. He was a graduate of Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS.

    Mr. Mitchell, 64, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in DeKalb. He was blessed to have a loving family and a host of friends. Lance was an avid sports fan and loved his Ole Miss Rebels. Before he became ill, he never missed a game. He was a member of DeKalb Presbyterian Church.

    Mr. Willie James “Jab” Woods was born October, 6, 1926 to the late Lawyer Woods and Carrie Caswell in Scooba, MS.  Mr. Woods, 90, passed away on May 31, 2017. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Johnsons Funeral Home in Chicago, IL with Pastor Marvin Alexander officiating. Interment followed in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Forest Park. He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Rev. Cleotis (Pat) Woods of Canton, MS; four daughters, Carol Jean Woods of Madison, MS; Toyia Katrina (Nicholas) Stewart of Chicago, IL; Cherya (Nathaniel) Jenkins of Chicago, IL; and Adrienne Jordan of Milwaukee, WI.
