A 6-year-old black female who was apparently kidnapped from East Kemper Elementary School Tuesday has been found safe in Lauderdale County, Sheriff James Moore said.

Jashayla Hopson was located in Lauderdale County Wednesday afternoon.

Lauderdale authorities have taken the child to a Meridian hospital to be examined by a child specialist, Moore said.

No have arrests have been made at this time.

Hopson was last seen with an unknown woman, described as a black female, wearing a black and white dress, with tattoos of stars on one foot, and a butterfly tattoo on the opposite leg.

The woman had hair braids pulled back in a ponytail and wrapped with a brown headscarf.

Authorities said earlier they might traveling in a gray four-door mid-sized sedan.
