The Kemper County Cattlemen's Association will hold it's regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Farmers Market Building in DeKalb. All cattlemen or beef producers are invited to attend. Dr. Bret Rushing will present the program on forages and related subjects. The Meridian Chapter of Miss. Valley State University Alumni will have their meeting Thursday, March 2, at the Council Of Organizations Building, 814-45th Ave beginning at 5p.m. All alumni in Meridian/Lauderdale County and surrounding counties are asked to attend as we continue to prepare for our banquet April 7th, 2017. The New Hope United Methodist Church Family will be hosting a Black History Program entitled “Honoring Kemper County’s African-American First Achievers” which will be focusing on our local neighbors and friends to be held Saturday evening, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church in New Hope Community in DeKalb, MS. The guest speaker for this event will be Mr. Rodney Brooks, Human Resource Business Consultant at the Kemper County Energy Facility via Mississippi Power Company (MPC), in DeKalb, MS. Kemper County is a participant in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Project proving a free book mailed monthly to the child in the child’s name from birth until the child reaches the age of five. This project is sponsored by the United Way of East Mississippi and the North American Coal Company, Inc in Kemper County.
