Kemper officials enjoy successful planning retreat

Twenty three elected or appointed Kemper County officials participated in a planning retreat at the Lion Hills Campus of EMCC in Columbus last Tuesday and Wednesday. Kemper County, DeKalb, Scooba, Kemper County School District, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Authority and EMCC were all represented.

East Kemper Elementary sixth grade students, Sha’laisha Darden, Dillon Little, and Alicia Coleman, along with Principal Tyresia Brown, and sixth grade English teacher, LaWanda Shields, traveled to Jackson on Friday, April 13 to a state award’s ceremony.

Elementary students enjoy conservation carnival
Last week third through sixth grade students from East Kemper Elementary and Kemper Academy traveled to Kemper Lake where they enjoyed a Conservation Carnival. The Carnival was an open air event, featuring beautiful weather.
