From school reports

Israel Consul General Lior Haiat and U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker visited East Mississippi Community College as special guests during Thursday night’s football game on the Scooba campus.

Haiat and Wicker served as honorary game captains and Wicker handled coin-toss duties prior to No. 1 ranked EMCC’s 47-0 victory over visiting Coahoma Community College.

Haiat, a fan of the Netflix series “Last Chance U” which featured EMCC’s football program for two seasons, began planning the visit while in Mississippi in 2017. Presented a No. 70 EMCC jersey with “Israel” across the back in recognition of Israel’s 70th “birthday” celebration earlier this year, Haiat was accompanied by representatives from Israel-based Emilia Resources, LLC. Emelia has announced another expansion of its DeKalb manufacturing facility which manufactures over-the-counter cosmetic and personal-care products. The company is adding new equipment and is expected to hire an addition 27 employees.
